God is Ordering Your Steps, You are Not Delayed

I was scheduled to attend a funeral of a close family member. I had a very early flight, so I planned by adding 30 minutes to my commute time to allow for incidentals. While I am very familiar with the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, I arrived at the International Terminal, rather than the Domestic Terminal. This delayed me about 15 minutes. I thought “Whew, I am glad I planned for this”, only to find myself circling the airport multiple times. At this point, I had been delayed for more than an hour. I was beyond frustrated, as time ticked by. I thought “There is no way that I am going to reach my destination”. I parked for a moment, regrouped emotionally, and called my son, so that he could give me guidance.

Ultimately, I reached the parking deck, briskly walked to the kiosk, checked in, and hurried to security. I made it to my gate at 8:05. My flight was scheduled to leave at 8:17. I caught a glimpse of the last passenger scanning her boarding pass, and kindly asked the boarding agent “Did I make it in time?” He said “Yes ma’am, you are fine, and you have been placed in first class.” Fortunately, I made it to my destination at the appointed time.

What is the Message?

It may appear as if your plans and promises have been delayed, but you are right on time. You may be tempted to give up because you think you won’t reach your destination, but you are walking in divine timing. During the wait, simply take your frustrations to your heavenly father in prayer, and He will order your steps (Psalm 37:23). You can’t miss it! His blessings are going to overtake you.

From your human perspective, you may be inclined to believe that you are the last one on the mind of God, but the “last shall be first!” (Matt: 20:6) As always, remember, as you navigate through the busyness of your day, be sure to listen for God’s messages in the moment.
